Potok turns speech into text in 33 languages, including English and Russian.
To turn on timecodes and speaker labeling without re-uploading, press the "With timecodes" or "By speakers" buttons under the transcript in the bot @potok_now_bot: the recording is redone by itself. Timecodes appear as [mm:ss], and speakers are labeled Speaker 1, Speaker 2. A subscription to the Potok app (potok.now) also works in the bot.
The transcript came as plain text, but you need to understand who was speaking and at what moment. You do not need to send the recording to the bot @potok_now_bot again for that.
What timecodes and speakers in a transcript are
- Timecode is a time mark in the text in the form
[mm:ss]. - Speaker labeling is the labels of the speakers in the text: "Speaker 1", "Speaker 2" and so on. These are numbers, not names: the bot does not know the names of the speakers. The "By speakers" button does not appear in every bot, it is there only where speaker labeling is turned on; timecodes are always available.
- The "With timecodes" and "By speakers" buttons are items under the transcript that redo the finished text without requiring you to upload the recording again.
- Settings is the /settings section in the bot: there you can turn on timecodes and speaker labeling in advance, before transcription.
How to turn on timecodes and speaker labeling without re-uploading
- Wait for the transcript.
- Under the finished text press "With timecodes" to add
[mm:ss]marks, or "By speakers", if that button is there, to label the lines with numbers. - You do not need to send the recording again: the bot redoes the transcript itself.
- You can turn these options on in advance in the bot settings: open the /settings command and find timecodes and speaker labeling there.
Finished transcripts stay in "My recordings". How to turn a recording into meeting minutes is covered in the material on the "Minutes" button, and the labeling itself is covered in more detail in the article on a transcript with division by speakers.
What the bot does not set up
The bot cannot put real names in place of "Speaker 1" and "Speaker 2": it labels lines only with numbers. Speech in 100+ languages is recognized (the language is detected automatically). The bot transcribes 60 minutes per month for free; there is one subscription for the Potok app for dictation and for the bot for recordings. The Potok app is cloud-based: recognition needs the internet. The bot transcribes recordings on Potok's servers in Russia.
